The Stephen Jay Gould Prize is awarded annually by the Society for the Study of Evolution to recognize individuals whose sustained and exemplary efforts have advanced public understanding of evolutionary science and its importance in biology, education, and everyday life in the spirit of Stephen Jay Gould.
The winner of the 2013 Stephen Jay Gould Prize is Ms. Judith G. Scotchmoor, the Director of Education and Public Programs at the University of California Museum of Paleontology at Berkeley. Ms. Scotchmoor is an award-winning science educator who has worked for decades to improve science teaching. She will deliver the Gould Award lecture at 8:00 PM Friday evening, June 21, in the Ball Room of the Cliff Lodge. The title of her talk is “Keeping Science as the Centerpiece: Lessons learned.” It is free and open to the public.
