Evolution 2013 International Conference on
Evolution at Snowbird, Utah.
From June 21st to 25th 2013 more than 1,400 scientists
and students from around the world will gather at the
conference center in Snowbird, Utah to discuss recent
discoveries and advances in biological research related to
our understanding of evolution. This meeting is the premier
annual opportunity for sharing scientific research related
to evolution. Symposia presentations, concurrent contributed
papers, and poster sessions will be presented by the 1,400
expected participants. Product and service providers will
contribute to the meeting through their exhibits.The meeting
features a kick-off lecture that is free and open to the
public by Ms. Judith G. Scotchmoor, Director of Education
and Public Programs at the University of California Museum
of Paleontology at Berkeley; the winner of the 2013 Stephen
Jay Gould Prize. This free public lecture will be held
in the Ballroom at the Cliff Lodge in Snowbird on Friday,
June 21 at 8:00 PM.

The 2013 recipient of the Stephen Jay Gould
Prize, Ms. Judith G. Scotchmoor.
The Society for the Study of Evolution is pleased to
announce the 2013 recipient of the Stephen Jay Gould Prize,
Ms. Judith G. Scotchmoor, the Director of Education and
Public Programs at the University of California Museum of
Paleontology at Berkeley. The prize is awarded annually by
the society to recognize individuals whose sustained and
exemplary efforts have advanced public understanding of
evolutionary science and its importance in biology,
education, and everyday life in the spirit of Stephen Jay
Gould.
Ms. Scotchmoor is an award-winning science educator who has
worked for decades to improve science teaching. As the
recipient, she will deliver the Gould Award lecture at the
annual meeting of the society. The lecture, which is free
and open to the public, will be given at 8:00 PM Friday
evening, June 21, in the Ball Room of the Cliff Lodge of
the Snowbird Conference Center and Alpine Pedestrian
Village. The title of her talk is “Keeping Science as the
Centerpiece: Lessons learned.”
